Dr. Ajith Thomas
Teaching Portfolio

I began my teaching journey as a physics trainer for JEE and NEET entrance examinations, focusing on higher secondary curricula. In 2018, I transitioned into higher education, joining St. Thomas College, Palai as a Lecturer. Over the years, I’ve taught at three reputed colleges across Kerala, India, accumulating 4 years of experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
I have taught a broad range of core physics subjects, including:
-
Classical Mechanics
-
Quantum Mechanics
-
Electrodynamics
-
Electronics
- Solid State Physics
- Statistical Mechanics
Student Supervision
I have mentored and supervised numerous student projects that emphasize experimental design, practical application, and low-cost instrumentation. These include:
-
4 Postgraduate Projects Supervised
-
16 Undergraduate Projects Mentored
Project topics have spanned:
-
Solar photovoltaics
-
Nanomaterials
-
Microcontroller-based systems (Arduino, ESP 32, Raspberry Pi)
-
DIY scientific instrumentation
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that physics is best learned through exploration, experimentation, and wonder. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the idea that understanding comes from engagement, not just memorization. I encourage students to:
-
Learn by doing
-
Question assumptions
-
Explore the physics behind everyday experiences
Whether it’s building devices, using microcontrollers in class, or demonstrating abstract concepts through simple experiments, I aim to make physics accessible, exciting, and meaningful.
I strive to:
-
Tailor content to diverse learning styles
-
Foster curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity
-
Inspire students to see science as a tool for understanding and improving the world
Outreach & Public Engagement
I am deeply committed to science communication and experimental education, regularly conducting hands-on demonstrations and workshops to promote physics beyond the classroom.

Higher Secondary School Teacher Training Programs
I have served as a resource person and trainer in several workshops and teacher development initiatives, promoting affordable, experiment-based physics education.
