Quantum Dot Synthesis Lab
The quantum dot synthesis and purification lab was built in a cost-effective manner, with most components fabricated using materials and equipment sourced from local stores.

Key Facilities and Capabilities:
-
High-temperature organometallic synthesis setup
-
Air-free synthesis using Schlenk line setup
-
Ligand exchange protocols (solid-state and solution-phase)
-
Post-synthesis purification and surface modification techniques

High-temperature organometallic synthesis setup for colloidal quantum dots. Equipped with dual reflux condensers, temperature-controlled heating mantles, and inert gas inlet/outlet ports for air-free synthesis under controlled conditions. This station forms the core of the lab’s nanomaterials development.

Photoluminescence of synthesized quantum dots under UV illumination. The top row shows CdSe quantum dots exhibiting size-tunable emission from red to green, while the bottom row displays CdS quantum dots with yellow and violet emission. These high-quality nanocrystals were prepared using high-temperature colloidal synthesis in our lab.
